Palletization

The Tray-, Package-, and Sack-based Palletization premium options for Mail Manager 2010 allow you to prepare the following:

All palletized presorts conform to the specifications outlined in the Domestic Mail Manual, sections M041, M045 and M940.

Package-Based Palletization

Package-based palletization is available for Periodical, Standard, and Package Services mail (Bound Printed Matter / Parcel Post and/or Media / Library Mail Options must be purchased for Package Services). When palletizing a mailing, pallets must be prepared when there are 500 pounds of mail in packages or parcels, but can be made with as little as 250 pounds. A pallet cannot exceed 2,200 pounds. When there are not enough packages to make a pallet, leftover pieces are placed in sacks.

Tray-Based Palletized Sorts

Tray-based palletization is available for Periodical and Standard Mail letter-sized pieces and Standard Mail flat pieces. Pallets must be prepared when there are six layers (or tiers) of trays or 500 pounds, but can be made optionally with as few as 36 linear feet or three layers of trays. A pallet cannot exceed twelve tiers or 2,200 pounds.

Leftover trays are placed on mixed ADC pallets (Periodicals) or mixed BMC pallets (Standard Mail). If it is not practical to create this last pallet, the pallet of leftover trays can be ignored and their contents submitted as loose trays.

Sack-Based Palletized Sorts

Sack-based palletization is available for Package Services Bound Printed Matter (a separately purchased option), Periodical and Standard Mail flat-sized pieces and irregular parcels. Pallets must be prepared when there is a minimum of 250 pounds, but cannot exceed 2,200 pounds.
