Genderization

Mail Manager 2010’s Genderization function assigns a value to the Gender field of a record if two conditions exist. First, the layout must contain both a Gender and First Name or Full Name datatype. Second, the name must match a record in the gender table of 21,000 first names or in the user-defined gender table, or must include the prefix “Mr”, “Mrs”, “Miss”, or “Ms”. If the name cannot be found in the database, is “gender-neutral” or contains more than one prefix (e.g., “Mr & Mrs”), the Gender field is left blank.

You can create a user-defined table that takes priority over the built-in database when assigning genders. When you create a table, the built-in gender table is still used when genderizing a list. However, user-defined entries always take precedence over built-in database entries.
