For DPV or any time-intensive mailing task, speed is everything.

With the USPS® making DPV™ a required part of the CASS™ / ZIP+4® process, be prepared for processing slowdowns. Disk access is the greatest bottleneck when accessing large files, and DPV will degrade processing times simply because the large DPV database requires multiple inquiries to validate a delivery point.

Disk access is the most time-consuming operation for a computer, particularly when dealing with large files that require substantial physical movement of the drive mechanism. Much of that delay can be mitigated by placing data in the RAM memory, which is precisely the solution offered by RAM Disk technology.

A RAM Disk is a computer board populated by 4 gigabytes of RAM. Your PC will see the board as another hard disk--but because it lacks the mechanical disadvantages of a traditional disk, all you'll see is increased speed.

With no modifications, the RAM Disk can increase your computer's processing speed and let you DPV-process lists at speeds comparable (or superior) to simple CASS processing using your standard hard disk.

Populated with 4 gigabytes of high-speed RAM, the RAM Disk acts like a regular high-performance hard drive at theoretically 1.5Gb/s data transfer rate. The major issue of data lost after powering down is solved by a backup battery, which is charged by your system on the fly. A 4-level LED indicates current battery capacity.

Without mechanical elements of traditional hard disks, the stunning performance of RAM Disk technology creates massive benefits in storage access applications including DPV file access and other disk-intensive applications. Quite simply, the RAM Disk is the fastest storage device available.

A Note from BCC President
K. Jon Runstrom

"BCC fully endorses RAM Disk technology as a cost-effective method of offsetting DPV-related processing slowdowns, and in some cases even surpassing pre-DPV CASS processing speeds. Whether you choose to take advantage of the particular solution we offer, or another provider’s RAM Disk package, I encourage you to look into this invaluable productivity booster."
