BCC Software Announces USPS PAVE Certification of Mail Manager 2010 for
Co-Packaging
of Automation Rate
and Presorted Rate Flats
BCC Software is proud to announce that Mail
Manager 2010 has received USPS Presort Accuracy
Validation and Evaluation (PAVE) certification
for Co-Packaging of Automation Rate and Presorted
Rate Flats. Mail Manager 2010 (Gold PAVE-Certified
in 66 Categories), provides postal presort functions,
ZIP + 4 encoding, address standardization, Line
of Travel (LOT) data assignments and Web updating
for PC based systems.
What is Co-packaging of automation rates and
presorted rate flats?
Effective March 31, 2002 a portion of Module
M of the Domestic Mail Manual (DMM) is revised
and a new section M950 is added to provide a
new preparation option that allows mailers to
combine flat-size automation rate pieces and
flat-size presorted rate pieces of the same mailing
class into the same package. This new preparation
is called co-packaging and is available for First-Class
Mail, Periodicals, and Standard Mail.
The co-packaging
option is an outgrowth of the co-traying and
co-sacking requirement detailed in DMM M910.
The Postal Service’s prior need to separate
these categories no longer exist due to Optical
Character Reader advances on the flat sorting machines.
The co-package routines allow pieces to be combined
in packages at a higher level than would be possible
than when processed separately. This not only
can reduce the postage, but it may also result
in more timely deliveries. Combinations can also
improve the preparation process since it will
result in fewer packages and containers and there
is no need to separately prepare and report the
automation and presorted pieces.
