BCC Software Receives USPS LACSLink Certifications
Developer and Distributor licenses allow BCC to bring services in-house, and offer faster turnarounds of value-added processing.

Rochester, NY—BCC Software, a BÖWE Bell + Howell company and a leading developer of high-performance software and solutions for professional mailers, has been certified by the United States Postal Service® (USPS®) as a LACSLink™ Developer and Distributor Licensee. With this certification, BCC adds LACSLink to the array of BCC Data Services — list-enhancing resources available to users of BCC’s Mail Manager 2010 and Mail Manager 2010 LE software products as well as the Data Services Manager, a downloadable stand-alone application.

In coordination with the Postal Service™, municipalities throughout the United States commonly replace Rural Route and P.O. Box number-style addresses with conventional name/number street designations, to give 911 emergency services the most practical location data for use when responding to calls. The frequently updated LACS database represents the accumulation of that data — more than 5 million records — and LACSLink connects licensees to that encrypted resource, as another way of ensuring mailers’ lists are as accurate as possible.

LACSLink replaces the former LACS processing paradigm, in which the actual LACS database was sent to a small group of licensees. With less restrictive licensing regulations, LACSLink can be offered by more service providers, thus making the address-enhancing resource — and attendant benefits including improved mailpiece deliverability and reduced postage costs — available to a wider field of mailers nationwide.

Because BCC can now perform this processing in-house instead of having to send jobs to a third-party provider, mailers enhancing their lists with LACSLink via BCC Data Services will see improved turnaround times compared to LACS processing offered by BCC. Mailers familiar with BCC’s highly competitive service rates will find fees for LACSLink to be no exception.

LACSLink is one of a broad range of Data Services available to mailers using BCC Software products. Other services include USPS NCOALink™, DPV™/DSF2™, Suppression, and the Where’s My MailSM mailpiece-delivery monitoring service based on USPS PLANET Code® technology. Lists may be packaged for convenient electronic processing and fast turnarounds — always same-day or next-day (depending upon the service), with NCOALink Limited Service Provider and LACSLink jobs typically returned in just a few minutes.

“We’re happy to have received certification for LACSLink,” said Mark Higgins, BCC Data Services Manager. “This is just another way that we can help customers improve their data quality, reduce undeliverable mail and save money — for the good of their own bottom line, or their clients’.”

BCC will offer LACSLink as a stand-alone service or in combination with NCOALink LSP and/or DPV processing. To learn more about this new service, including rates, contact BCC at (800) 337-0372. For more information about BCC Data Services, visit bccsoftware.com.
