Thirty years of customer-focused mailing technology innovation.

From its founding in 1978 as a one-man business charged with the development of a mailing list program for a Chicago area trade association, to its present-day status as a mailing industry leader and a proud member of the BÖWE BELL + HOWELL family of companies, BCC Software Inc has prospered thanks to the skills and determination of its people, and to its dedication to a simple ideal: “How Can We Help?”

Since its inception, BCC has been devoted to the goal of developing mail-preparation products and services featuring the most innovative technology and the most compelling combinations of performance and value—and to backing up those offerings with world-class customer service and support.

The flagship line of BCC’s fleet is the Mail Manager platform, a presorting and list-management software solution that has evolved steadily over the years. The very first Mail Manager programs were authored and designed by BCC and marketed by the nation’s leader in labeling equipment; later, those efforts led to the launches of Mail Manager 2000 and ZCR 2000, DOS-based software products acclaimed for their time.

In a pivotal moment in BCC history, Jon Runstrom’s brother Erik joined the company in 1984. A recent graduate of the Ph.D. program at Purdue University, he brought new ideas and techniques in program design and implementation. Erik’s contributions, among those of many others, led to the April 1998 release of next-generation Mail Manager 2010, a Windows-based solution that has proven able to flexibly serve the growing needs of a rapidly changing industry landscape ever since.

BCC’s continued growth—in the company’s size, and its influence in the mailing community—eventually attracted the attention of BÖWE BELL + HOWELL, a global leader in document-processing solutions that had been seeking a strategic partner to complement its hardware-oriented offerings. BCC became a BÖWE BELL + HOWELL company in July 2005, with Jon Runstrom remaining as BCC’s President.

As BCC’s range of products continues to broaden and its reach expands ever further, the service-oriented philosophy that served as a foundation since its earliest days has only grown stronger. Statistics regarding customer retention and satisfaction—key indicators of success in this market—are among the highest enjoyed by any mailing technology provider, and each day the company’s employees seek and find new ways to assist current and future mailers who rely on BCC to help them navigate the choppy waters of United States Postal Service® rules and regulations. Through it all, BCC administrators and staff rely on the single question that has guided the company for three decades: “How Can We Help?”
