Position Summary:
Working with software developers, the Software Quality Assurance Specialists’ primary responsibility is to support product development lifecycle
testing utilizing structured test plans, standard testing techniques and an understanding of how customers use the software in various environments.
The Software Quality Assurance Specialist must possess the management skills to control the execution of activities and tasks associated with the test plan.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the overall test plan for each release (i.e. view) including testing objectives, timeframe, issues, documentation
and reporting of results.
- Tracking and documentation of defects/enhancements using the Software Change Management tool, StarTeam.
- Create, execute, and maintain test cases using different methods of black box testing or functional testing
(Usability testing, Acceptance testing, Regression testing, Performance testing, Stress testing, and System tests).
- Assist all departments by researching software issues, developing workarounds and providing technical information.
- Where possible, utilize test automation tools (TaskMaster and TestComplete) to enhance group productivity and scope of
testing performed.
- Weekly and bimonthly testing of product updates, table updates, and program installs.
- Review team members’ test cases and verified Change Requests for logical and/or technical errors.
- Distribute information on new features, workarounds, solutions, and known problems to all departments.
- Stay current on changes in mailing industry and government requirements, particularly as they relate to PAVE and CASS.
- Review help systems, manuals, release notes and other documentation for technical accuracy.
- Performs various team assignments, as required, to help the Quality Control Team accomplish its goals and continuously improve operations.
Qualifications:
Required:
- At least 2 years experience in software development, testing or related field.
- Bachelors’ degree in a Computer, Math or Science, related discipline or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in both an independent and a team-based environment.
- Demonstrated experience in the planning and execution of a test plan.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively coordinate tasks and activities with others in a productive manner.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (written and verbally). Specifically, the ability to clearly describe complex problems
and technical concepts which can be understood and effectively used by others.
- Must have a passion for breaking software.
Desired:
- Object oriented programming experience.
- Familiarity with various types of testing methodologies.
- Familiarity with IEEE testing standards.
- Experience with Borland’s StarTeam and AutomatedQA’s TestComplete.
- Experience in the mailing industry.
