Reports To:      Programming, Lead Programmer

 

Status:               Exempt

 

Position Summary:

 

The developer’s primary duties involve execution of tasks associated with the maintenance of BCC’s mailing software products including the implementation of new product features and changes as required by postal regulations.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Execute specific tasks including: installation, configuration, maintenance, design, development, testing and documentation of BCC’s mailing software products.
  • Provide guidance to the Quality team with respect tothe design and execution of test plans, scenarios, and scripts throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Provide guidance to the Documentation and Training team with respect to the technical accuracy and content of product related materials.
  • Provide guidance to Sales, Marketing and Customer Support teams with respect to technical feasibility, complexity and level of effort required to implement new product functionality and/or changes.
  • Provide assistance to Customer Support in resolution of end user issues escalated as a result of impact on business or level of complexity.

Minimum Rquirements:

 

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physical or Life Sciences, Mathematics or related field of study.
  • Demonstrated experience in using Object Oriented Development methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to use a systematic approach in solving problems through problem analysis and evaluation of alternate solutions including assessment of benefits and possible consequences. Ability to develop unique and novel solutions to problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction or supervision to achieve results and accomplish tasks.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Preferred:

 

  • Demonstrated experience / proficiency with the following:

             1.  Delphi, C++ or Visual Basic

               and

             2. Pascal, C, FORTRAN or COBOL

  • Demonstrated experience / proficiency with: COM, VB Script, HTML, ASP and/or XML.
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physical or Life Sciences, Mathematics or related field of study.
